October 21, 2019 Dinner Meeting
WMPMI's monthly chapter meeting is a two-PDU event featuring two presentation sessions linked by networking time and a buffet dinner.
Location: The Pinnacle Center - 3330 Highland Dr, Hudsonville, MI 49426
Speaker: Dr. Chris Hamstra, Associate Professor of Communication at Davenport University
Sessions 1 and 2 Topic: Leadership Storytelling: Appreciating Stories for Personal and Professional Excellence
Description:
Leadership guru Warren Bennis suggests that Leadership “…should always have room for inspirational stories about wonderful leaders as well as grim cautionary tales about bad ones.” This session will help individuals understand the process and practice of storytelling and how to directly apply this knowledge to Project Management.
Storytelling is an under-utilized tool that will help Project Managers in the areas of: Strategic and Business Management by using knowledge to enhance performance; and Leadership to developing themselves and others while getting the work done well.
This interactive session will walk individuals through an abbreviated process of Appreciative Inquiry (Discover, Dream, Design, and Destiny). Individuals will identify and begin sharing leadership life-stories. Opportunities to listen to and engage others in the storytelling process will also be cultivated.
PDU Information: 2 PDUs (1.0 Strategic & Business Management / 1.0 Leadership)
