Dinner Meeting - "Volunteers Don't Come With Warning Labels"
Volunteers Don’t Come with Warning Labels:
A Blueprint for Project Managers who Handle Challenging People
As a project leader, you're expected to keep things moving—even when people are challenging. Volunteers can be an issue because they are giving of their time and energy and yet you need them to do their job and show up. Conflict, miscommunication, and personality clashes are often the real roadblocks in a project’s or chapters success. The good news? You don’t need a psychology degree to handle difficult people—you just need tools, insight, and a little humor.
In this interactive and engaging session, Lori uses humorous characterizations to spotlight common difficult behaviors and how to respond with confidence and clarity. Participants will break into small groups to explore what really works (and what doesn’t) when communicating with difficult personalities. We’ll also discuss how to reduce the stress that comes with tough conversations—and how to use those moments to build trust and foster stronger collaboration.
- Participants will learn how to:
- Understand the root of difficult behavior (and how to manage it)
- Communicate more effectively across personality styles
- Reduce conflict and tension to improve team morale
- Manage the stress of difficult interactions
- Build trust through empathy, clarity, and consistency
- Create a more productive, collaborative work environment
