Program Management and Links in the Error Chain
Space Flight Resource Management (SFRM) is a NASA derivative of the Cockpit Resource Management (CRM) concept used in the aviation industry to improve operational safety and communication during aircraft flight. SFRM is taught to astronauts and mission control engineers and used in spacecraft operations. Key skills of SFRM are identifying and eliminating Links in the Error Chain, and using of specific verbal protocol for critical communication.
During this talk, the origin of aviation CRM and NASA SFRM is described. Then Links in the Error Chain and critical communication protocol are explained and application in the project management environment is presented. The PMI topic discussion also includes theoretical program management problems where the audience is encouraged to identify the Links in the Error Chain. Finally the audience will use the critical communication protocol in interactive examples.
