Session One Presentation: Obey The Law!! Using Little’s Law to Manage Overloaded Work Queues

In many situations, the demand for work is rising while resources to do the work remain the same or perhaps even decline. This leads to the unproductive state of multitasking. In this presentation, we’ll explore Little’s Law, and how it can help us better manage the workload and deliver results.

Session One Presenter: Mark Detti

Mark Dettl is a graduate of Michigan Tech and Western New England University. Mark’s first career was in the US Air Force, where his passion for process and organizational improvement began. He had the unique experience of working directly with the then newly formed Software Engineering Institute. After retiring, his second career was in IT consulting and process, project, and service management, where his skills in process and organizational improvement continued to grow. More recently, Mark founded The Phoenix Vision, LLC to envision the next generation of leadership and management practices needed to lead purpose-driven change.

Session Two Presentation: Communicating Effecive Messages

Effective Messages: Why is it so difficult to communicate today? Technology, deadlines, customer demands, internal demands, the fast pace of business and the list goes on.  Effective communication is a key driver for achieving business results and employee engagement.  You can make a difference with clear, concise and focused messages that engage your audiences.
This session will provide participants with tools and practice using an upcoming communication opportunity.  Participants will learn how to:
Craft massage that are clear, concise and focused to get their point across
Use a proven planning method for any type of communication
Incorporate the Rule of Three

Tools: Participants will use our Six Planning Musts to prepare and deliver their messages to key audiences.  They will incorporate the Rule of Three to create a focused message that engages the audience.  The Key Word Outline structure gives participants the framework for effective and activating messages.

Exercises: Participants will create their individual message then share it in small groups for feedback.
