WMPMI's monthly chapter meeting is a two-PDU event featuring two presentation sessions linked by networking time and a buffet dinner.

Location: The Pinnacle Center - 3330 Highland Dr, Hudsonville, MI 49426

Session 1 Speaker:  Mark Mochel, MBA, PMP, CSM - Vice-President, Sales and Marketing, Facility Health, Inc.

Session 1 Topic:  Selling Agile to People Who Don’t Think They Need It. Learning to Speak a New Language – Communicate with Your Customers/Shareholders using THEIR Words, not Yours.

Building on Session 1, Mark will focus in Session 2 on discussing techniques for “selling” the benefits of Agile (or even Traditional) Project Management techniques in environments where there is specific resistance to that approach. The solution developed by FHI requires the identification of KPI’s, ongoing performance data collection, immediate review of results, and constant (weekly/monthly/annual) course corrections for predictive rather than reactive management. Sound familiar? It’s Agile, just please don’t tell anyone!

PDU:  Leadership - 1.0 PDU

Speaker Bio:
With over 20 years of project and program management experience, Mark is passionate about the utilization of technology to drive predictive maintenance in HealthCare and improve facility performance. That means creating an objective, data-driven communication link between the technicians, the engineers, the facilities management team, and the executive leadership where the capital investment decisions are made. Mark has a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University, and an MBA from The University of Michigan.

Session 2 Speaker: Jeff Kissinger, PMP, FCT, FCP, CSM - Senior Project Manager, Grand Rapids Community College

Session 2 Topic:    Project Prioritization Made Easy -- Keep It At The Top

Project prioritization involves determining which project requests to approve and the order in which to work on and complete the approved requests. This can be an awfully painful and political process. This was definitely the case for Grand Rapids Community College's IT Department in 2011 when its PMO was formed. This process was completely overhauled five years ago, which transformed it into a functional and successful process that ensures GRCC's IT Department works on and completes the right projects for the college. This presentation will show attendees why this approach to project prioritization works, how to implement it, how to remove roadblocks to the process, and how to maintain and improve it year after year.
