Professional Development Day

The Western Michigan PMI chapter's Professional Development Day (PDD) is an annual event that brings together project management practitioners across the Western Michigan area. This one-day conference provides attendees with the opportunity to learn new skills, explore new trends, and network with other project management professionals. It is also a great opportunity for sponsors to connect directly with the people who manage change within the wide variety of industries they represent.

Attendees learn from nationally and locally known speakers that cover topics encompassed within the PMI Talent Triangle, which best suit the interests and professional development goals of the attendees. They also network and share ideas with other attendees throughout the day and earn professional development units (PDUs) towards their PMI credentials.

The next PDD -- PM-IQ - Thought Leadership for the Project Manager -- will take place on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at The Pinnacle Center in Hudsonville, Michigan.

THE Project Collegiate Project Management Competition

THE Project is an annual collegiate project management competition offered by WMPMI. Although project management tends to favor business, computer science, and engineering curriculums, students in all academic disciplines are highly encouraged to participate. THE Project engages college students in the practice of project management, develops their leadership skills, and provides them with a showcase to demonstrate their leadership abilities on stage and in person with business and community leaders from West Michigan.

WMPMI recently crowned Michigan Tech University's Team "Turnip the Beet" as the sixth winner of THE Project on Monday, April 10, 2017.

Monthly Dinner Meetings

The Western Michigan PMI monthly dinner meetings occur on the second Monday of the month, September through May (with the exception of December) from 5 PM to 8 PM at Crossroads Conference Center in Grand Rapids. These meetings typically consist of dinner and two guest speakers who each speak for an hour. The purpose of these meetings is to provide educational and informative programs based on PMI’s Talent Triangle to develop the skills of project managers and allow them to earn professional development units (PDUs). It also provides attendees with opportunities to network with others who share their interest in project management.

 Monthly Breakfast Meetings

WMPMI now hosts breakfast meetings on the third Friday of every month from 6:45 AM to 8:30 AM at the Women's City Club in Grand Rapids. This monthly one-PDU event features a speaker who presents on a topic from the PMI Talent Triangle for 45 minutes and allows 15 minutes for questions. Also included is an excellent breakfast buffet and the company of your project management peers.

Volunteer Recognition Dinner

Each year WMPMI recognizes its dedicated volunteers at an annual dinner each May. The efforts of our volunteers, along with the generosity of our sponsors, make it possible for WMPMI to plan and execute our events. This dinner is our way of thanking them – volunteers and sponsors alike – for all the time and effort they dedicate to furthering WMPMI’s endeavors.
