Community of Practice

The Project Management Office Community of Practice is a monthly fellowship of Project Management leaders and practitioners working at some of the best companies in West Michigan.  On the second Wednesday of each month, the West Michigan Project Management Institute (WMPMI) partners with a “host” company to facilitate some programming where a speaker/representative for the company explains some of the processes and best practices they use in their role as a Project Manager or in their PMO.  The atmosphere of these sessions are always interactive and in an open and communicative forum where PM’s can help each other and ask questions to help them be better PM’s.  These sessions occur from roughly 11:30AM to 1PM in a luncheon-style format where the “host” company provides lunch (most meetings are usually less than 20 people) and prepares the programming of their choice which usually lasts 40 or so minutes with time after for questions/tours, etc.

We have fun and learn a ton about tools, processes, efficiencies and innovations.  You can reach out to either of the Directors of the POM CoP (Brian Gleason and Des Nelson) for information or to sign-up to be a host in an upcoming month.
